Sacred Myrrh and Incense
Have you ever wondered where incense comes from?
In India, incense is a critical element for many religious celebrations. Incense is used during prayer ceremonies and festivals. It's said that the aroma of incense will diminish any "evil energy".
A stick of incense is usually made from bamboo, which is later coated with a paste of charcoal and Tabu powder. Tabu is an adhesive collected from The Bollygum Tree.
Masala, or a mixture of spices, is then added to the paste. This is what gives incense its distinguished scent.
One of the most-used resins in Ayurveda is Guggul, collected from The Myrrh Tree (Mukul).
Astonishingly, Guggul resin has a very similar scent and texture to The Biblical resin of Myrrh.
